Who is Valentina Karellas?
Valentina is a knitwear designer who uses yarns from bigger factories that would otherwise go to waste to produce her products. Her focus on sustainability and ethics and her dedication to craftsmanship make her garments the highest quality possible. She also offers a visible mending service for knitted garments to give damaged items a new lifespan and reduce waste even further.
As Valentina says "We waste nothing, keeping all the yarn fibres to create new things is what is most exciting of being zero waste."

What is Visible Mending?
Visible mending is when there is a distinct contrast colour of yarn, matching the same fibre as the item so that the mend is seen, but done very neatly and usually it beautifies the garment. The pictures below show a few examples of Valentina's work.

What is The Process?
- Customers get in touch with Valentina directly with pictures of the damage
- Valentina checks what is feasible and estimates the costs
- Once agreed, Valentina sends the invoice for customers to pay so works can commence
- Customers post the garment to her studio in North West London
- Valentina checks all the holes and measure it again
- Valentina shares the colours that she can use to repair the garment
- Valentina does her magic and voilá! You'll get your repaired garment back.
It's strongly advised to get in touch with Valentina before start the process on her website to make sure the process and expectations are aligned.
The costs can vary depending on the size and number of the holes. Below is the breakdown of possible costs but please keep in mind these can vary:
1cm < holes/areas: £10
1cm-2cm holes/areas: £15
3cm - 4cm holes/areas: £20

The price is worked out depending on the size of the hole and the thread count needed. This is the breakdown of possible costs: 1cm < holes/areas: £10 | 1cm-2cm holes/areas: £15 | 3cm - 4cm holes/areas: £20 | Please note these prices can vary so it's strongly advised to get in touch with Valentina via her website before kicking off the process.
You are responsible for posting the garment to Valentina's studio in North West London and once the repair is done she will post it back to you.
Any knitted fabric can be repaired with visible mending, independently of the material. If the fabric is not knitted, Valentina will not be able to help you.
